Last night I watched Badlands, a 1973 film directed by Terrence Malick starring Martin Sheen as Kit Carruthers and Sissy Spacek as Holly Sargis.  It clearly inspired Quentin Tarantino when he wrote one of my all time fave films: True Romance. For starters, both films use the same distinct theme music: Carl Orff by Gassenhaur and both stories are narrated by the female lead who has a heavy Southern accent and a dreamy romantic and somewhat naive outlook on life. Both women fall in love rather quickly and go on the run with their lover who rides a cadillac and resembles a vintage Hollywood star. The perfect rock’n’roll love story!
