Last weekend I made my first flea market trip of the year to Amsterdam and what a super sunny weekend of treasure hunting it was...
Colourful vintage fun from the flea in Amsterdam!
One of my regular buying haunts is one of the biggest flea markets in Europe, held in a gigantic old shipping warehouse just a short ferry ride from Centraal station in Amsterdam. Once a month I hop aboard a sleeper coach on a Friday night with an empty suitcase and wake up on the Saturday morning ready to tackle over 700 stalls of thrift.
Like any flea market 90% of the stalls don’t have what I’m looking for so sometimes it can feel like looking for a needle in a haystack but when I stumble across the vendor with colour pop 60s to 90s fun and novelty vintage in good condition the crazy 1000 mile round journey is all worth it!
My budget is usually spent in about 3 hours so I treat myself to some chips and mayonnaise or mini pancakes (or both!) and then haul my very heavy suitcase back to the mainland and spend the rest of the afternoon drinking coffee and people watching in one of the many cafes until my coach back to London.
