Thrift-ola festive yard sale soundtracked by Phil Spector

Thrift-ola yard sale sound tracked by the Phil Spector Christmas album. So festive!

I had such a fun day yesterday! I love selling online and the freedom that brings but I do miss my bricks and mortar shop sometimes and the happy smiling faces of gals ‘n guys when they spot something they love. So I decided to open up my studio yesterday and sell off all remaining website stock and lots of other bits and pieces at very pleasing prices. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and also meet new folk. If you missed it, fear not! I am opening up again for one last day and that’s tomorrow; Saturday 22nd December from 10am to 6pm. There’s lots of ace stuff still to be claimed and I’m going to dig out a few more pieces. My address is Vittoria Wharf, 10 Stour Road, London E3 2NT. The nearest station is Hackney Wick Overground. My building is behind the green gates with a yellow toadstool on the roof!

The Highs and Lows of 2012

Looking back on 2012, one of the big highs was creating Thrift-ola's first ever handmade product - Lola. Continue reading »

The first batch of Lola's drying on the printing rack.

I’m not going to lie, it’s been a bumpy year for Thrift-ola. Up until August I took on too much freelance work to run the business at all and it pretty much ground to a halt. It was on my birthday in September that I decided to focus entirely on building Thrift-ola up again as an all-singing-all-dancing business and that meant sourcing vintage AND designing my own products. I’ve only managed to launch one product so far and that was Lola – the perfect way to display your favourite frock. Having not put anything out there for a good few years, it was more nerve wracking than I expected and cash flow wise it pushed us quite hard. Continue reading »

A Splash of Sunshine

Posted on: December 14, 2012

Just gazing out of the windows of Thrift-ola Towers right now and it's a pretty December-ish day in old London Town. Grey, drizzly, foggy and pretty darn cold. Shall we brighten up the day a little with some bright yellow vintage finds? Continue reading »

A ray of vintage sunshine! Horse tin, enamel teapot, daisy tray and cake tin.

A ray of vintage sunshine! Horse tin, enamel teapot, daisy tray and cake tin.

I added this cheerful quartet of colourful vintage finds to my online shoppe yesterday. I think I must be craving summer! The horse tin is a great size for sewing ephemera, particularly buttons, although you could fill it with retro sweets and pop in someone’s stocking! The little bright yellow enamel teapot is an original piece made in Poland in the 70s and will make a tip top cup for one or make a kooky little vase on the kitchen table. The gigantic daisy tray is one of those finds that’s really hard to part with. When it’s not being used to bring you breakfast in bed it’ll display a treat in the kitchen. Last but not least, the colour pop vintage tin is not only a great size for home baked cakes and cookies, it’s absolutely pristine inside so perfect to store food. I hope these brighten up your day a little!
