I can’t remember the keyword search that led me to discover and fall instantly head over heels in rainbow love with the unashamedly colourful and stripey world that is Dime Store Buddy. It’s an Etsy store based in the US, not a bricks and mortar in London. I was disappointed by this fact at first then slowly realised it was probably for the best, otherwise my kitchenette would be stuffed full of things like 50 chilly dilly pickle bags. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad? Continue reading »

To counter the grey skies and drizzly weather of late my nine new thrifted finds today are a serious batch of rainbow hued pieces. Clad yourself in this 100% silk dress from Hobbs and rainbow sea shell shaped leather bag, dress baby in the 100% cotton slogan tee whilst you both bop along to the Hokey Pokey and why not use the sleeve as a piece of wall art in the nursery. The last vintage teen annual I have left in my online shoppe is a winter special from 1982 called Diana for Girls. Inside you’ll discover oodles of fun pop, illustrated stories, fashion and craft projects and it’s scarily modern considering it’s nearly 35 years old! I’ve scanned in a few of my fave pages and their cover star is now also Thrift-ola’s avatar star over on our Facebook ‘n Twitter pages. I must remember to wear my winter warmers with such a killer smile!

The first Saturday of every month is Caturday on Thrift-ola, a day where I launch lots of vintage cat goodies, hold giveaways and post lots of silly retro cat pics. Unfortunately I haven’t been doing my usual levels of thrifting this month as I’ve been producing the first Thrift-ola designed product (more news on that soon!) so Caturday is going to be back in the new year when I’ll run it quarterly to give me more of a chance to find oodles of crazy cat finds for y’all. Until then you can get your paws on this super fun vintage ceramic mug, just tell me what 1970 album is our furry pal nestled in front of? Email the answer to me leona@thrift-ola.com and I’ll pick a winner at random by next Friday 9th. Good luck!
***UPDATE***
This competition has now closed, thank you to everyone who successfully guessed it’s Loaded by The Velvet Underground. The winner is Jamie Miller.

My nine new finds added to the Thrift-ola shoppe today are all red and white cuties! I’ll hold off using the c-word just yet but for those of you who like to be organised and prepped I’ve started to add a sprinkling of my festive finds which so far include a robin and holly tea towel and two super cute holly aprons.
