Thanks to everyone who placed orders in our little vintage shoppe for Christmas but we’ve now wrapped, packed and posted our last order in time for the big day. It’s not quite time for us to put our festive onesie on and and relax just yet because tomorrow is the big Thrift-ola Yard Sale. I’m opening up my studio tomorrow from midday til 9pm and will be selling everything that’s left on the website and more at very pleasing prices! Come and have a rummage at Vittoria Wharf, 10 Stour Road, London E3 2NT. Can’t wait to meet lots of thrifty folk.

I’m not going to lie, it’s been a bumpy year for Thrift-ola. Up until August I took on too much freelance work to run the business at all and it pretty much ground to a halt. It was on my birthday in September that I decided to focus entirely on building Thrift-ola up again as an all-singing-all-dancing business and that meant sourcing vintage AND designing my own products. I’ve only managed to launch one product so far and that was Lola – the perfect way to display your favourite frock. Having not put anything out there for a good few years, it was more nerve wracking than I expected and cash flow wise it pushed us quite hard. Continue reading »

I added this cheerful quartet of colourful vintage finds to my online shoppe yesterday. I think I must be craving summer! The horse tin is a great size for sewing ephemera, particularly buttons, although you could fill it with retro sweets and pop in someone’s stocking! The little bright yellow enamel teapot is an original piece made in Poland in the 70s and will make a tip top cup for one or make a kooky little vase on the kitchen table. The gigantic daisy tray is one of those finds that’s really hard to part with. When it’s not being used to bring you breakfast in bed it’ll display a treat in the kitchen. Last but not least, the colour pop vintage tin is not only a great size for home baked cakes and cookies, it’s absolutely pristine inside so perfect to store food. I hope these brighten up your day a little!

I’m pretty sure that when this travel case was carefully handmade by the good folk of Morton Leather Products in London, England they imagined it would be whisked off on many a glamorous and fun voyage. Looking at the tip top condition it’s in today I unfortunately doubt that this handsome case which is beautifully lined in a dramatic hot pink satin has ever been used at all! It still has it’s keys clipped to the inside corner and it’s elasticated pouches and zip pockets have never seen a single garment or accessory. Therefore good people of Thrift-ola land I am looking to YOU to fulfill the dreams of this rather lovely case and when you’re not traveling it will of course display a treat in your boudoir!
